Information Channel Capacity

چکیده
A communication channel consists of a transmitter, a receiver, and some medium between these two (possibly vacuum) that supports transmission of signals. In most cases, the transmitter and/or receiver have limited bandwidth, while the medium could transmit pulses of arbitrarily small time width. Hence, “channel capacity” is more a property of the transmitter and receiver, than of the signal-transmission medium. In simple pulse telegraphy, the presence of a pulse corresponds to a 1 and its absence to a 0. The number of levels is n = 2, in which case eq. (2) has the same form as eq. (1). If it is desired to transmit a digitized analog signal with n analog levels via simple pulse telegraphy, the bandwidth of the analog signal is limited to B/n, since a block of n two-level pulses is used to represent each n-level analog sample. Equivalently, if the analog sampling is performed to m-bit accuracy, then the analog bandwidth is limited to B/2.

A More General Version of the Costa Theorem
In accordance with the Costa theorem, the interference which is independent of the channel input and known non-causally at the transmitter, does not affect the capacity of the Gaussian channel. In some applications, the known interference depends on the input and hence has some information. In this paper, we study the channel with input dependent interference and prove a capacity theorem that n...

Covert channel means communicating information through covering of overt and authorized channel in a manner that existence of channel to be hidden. In network covert timing channels that use timing features of transmission packets to modulating covert information, the appropriate encoding schema is very important. In this paper, a hybrid encoding schema proposed through combining "the inter-pac...
متن کاملOn The Secrecy of the Cognitive Interference Channel with Channel State
In this paper the secrecy problem in the cognitive state-dependent interference channel is considered. In this scenario we have a primary and a cognitive transmitter-receiver pairs. The cognitive transmitter has the message of the primary sender as side information. In addition, the state of the channel is known at the cognitive encoder. Hence, the cognitive encoder uses this side information t...
متن کاملAn efficient secure channel coding scheme based on polar codes
In this paper, we propose a new framework for joint encryption encoding scheme based on polar codes, namely efficient and secure joint secret key encryption channel coding scheme. The issue of using new coding structure, i.e. polar codes in Rao-Nam (RN) like schemes is addressed. Cryptanalysis methods show that the proposed scheme has an acceptable level of security with a relatively smaller ke...
متن کاملGaussian Z Channel with Intersymbol Interference
In this paper, we derive a capacity inner bound for a synchronous Gaussian Z channel with intersymbol interference (ISI) under input power constraints. This is done by converting the original channel model into an n-block memoryless circular Gaussian Z channel (n-CGZC) and successively decomposing the n-block memoryless channel into a series of independent parallel channels in the frequency dom...
متن کاملCapacity Bounds and High-SNR Capacity of the Additive Exponential Noise Channel With Additive Exponential Interference
Communication in the presence of a priori known interference at the encoder has gained great interest because of its many practical applications. In this paper, additive exponential noise channel with additive exponential interference (AENC-AEI) known non-causally at the transmitter is introduced as a new variant of such communication scenarios. First, it is shown that the additive Gaussian ch...
